Harmonics and vibration dampening with the diesel are critical to preserving the life of the propeller. The Continental diesel uses a reduction gear box if I remember right and they lasted 500-700 hours. Engine was good for 2000 hrs. I had a diesel pickup and swapped vibration dampeners, big mistake. Flywheel came off and ripped up the crank flange. Gotta manage vibration on a diesel.
