My grandparents did ok here farming a hundred years ago. The difference was that they didn't have to deal with losing electricity or gas for heating because they never had it to begin with. Cut a big wood pile for heat and cooking. Some coal in the bin for the furnace. Feed the cattle by coal oil lantern and pitchfork. Straw roof on the barn. Hand pump to get water out of the well. Until it went dry. Then haul water three miles with horses and a wooden tank on sleighs. That would be the worst part. Running out of water. No problem for the house, just melt snow on the wood stove.
