Pull the drain plug from the bottom of the carb, catch the gas in a clean glass. Be ready to do this as soon as it falters.
Engine off, fuel valve on, you should get an endless stream of gas, not a drip or flow and stop. If the flow is slow or stops, start checking back toward the tank for the restriction. There may be a screen inside the inlet elbow of the carb.
Look at what was caught, if water, dirt, rust, the tank is contaminated and the same will be inside the carb.
If all that checks out, be ready to check the spark at the plug end of each wire immediately when it quits. Should have a 1/4 blue hot spark to ground.
If weak, check the spark at the coil. Feel the coil can, it should not be hotter than the surrounding components. Possibly it has the wrong coil For a 12v system with no resistor, it needs a true 12v coil. Example, NAPA IC14SB. Be sure to go by what is stamped on the coil, not what the box says or the counter person says.
