I had my first hayride in the 8th grade. My dad pulled 2 wagons with 24 grain sides behind our Farmall H. I did the same for my kids in Junior High and we have done them since. My kids are now in their 50's. My son and I built (and he now has) one 16'long bed on a light running gear with 36 high stock type sides and end gates. Both sides are hinged to be able to fold down to make a stage for a bandstand. (My grandsons play in a band) The rear steps fold up so no one can ride on them. We only used bales of straw for seating. It has side marker lights and tail lights for night hay rides. How you power them is up to you. We did not make provision for any type of roof but have discussed it. Your need as a transport from a parking lot to the show gate should consider having many seniors and rambunctious kids. Be safe.
