Went over to my neighbor's place today. First time I've been there even tho we've been neighbors for nearly ten years. This is an old German community and people don't get to know each other and trust each other immediately.
I was needing tension adjustment cranks for my New Holland 469 cutter conditioner. He said he had several I could have. He had a project going. He needs to build some fence on the steep sides of an earthen dam. So he's gotten his Oliver Cletrac six cylinder diesel running. It has a three point on the back. He is mounting a post pounder on the back. He says that even tho it is a steep side slope, he'll be able to drive one line post, then four t-posts and repeat, all by himself (just by following a wire). I also peeked inside his shed and saw his Minneapolis (Moline???) steam engine. Dunno what model it is and didn't ask, but it is (like most all steam engines) a darn big machine! He also had a 1942 John Deere A on steel in there. Then we went into his pasture for parts. Oh my gosh! At one place he had three 1920's era Mack trucks. I've also seen a Rumley Oil Pull sitting at his place in the past, and I've seen that at the county fair too. I suppose he has closer to 100 than to 50, old tractors. Geez, I gotta go visit this guy more often. We are next door neighbors. We've built one fence together and are in the process of building more, but I've only driven by his place up to now.
