Our first cutting was good but nothing to write home about. It is brome and alfalfa. Second cutting yielded about a third of what the first cutting because of the lack of rain, the heat and the brome part of it is a first cutting hay anyway. I was thinking about spreading two tons per acre of Turkey litter on the hay ground after the second cutting but decided not to because I was afraid it would not be rained into the soil. We have had a Twitch under 5 inches of rain like I had mentioned since the second cutting was taken off. Now I am kicking myself for not fertilizing. (Sigh)
