Like TX Jim said they are notorious for issues with the linkage to the reverser, most common being a cracked roll pin on the tube underneath the tractor that goes to the reverser control.
Probably 10 + points to wear in the linkage between the lever and the control, a little play in each adds up to a lot of slop.
Once you are used to the machine you will probably find you don't need or use a functioning neutral position on the lever.
