I calibrated Simpson 260 at USNAD Crane, In back in the 60s while I was in college on a co-OP program. Yes the 260 was considered the Gold standard then until digital technology came around. The 260 is best kept on a work bench and not bounced around in a dirty worktruck. The mechanic meter movement is fragile. Connect it to high voltage on a low scale and watch the needle bend. Leaving it on the ohmmeter settings and measure 220v. Then watch the smoke come out. Ask me how I know?
The $10 cheapie digital stands up to senior moments the 260 won't.
I bought a cheapie digital voltmeter/ frequency meter off Ebay for my portable generator.
