dlbuck, my take on it, and the way that I post about it is that YT replies to posts about hauling or trucks, are far, far more picky about things like load securing than real DOT inspectors are. One common one is that if anything loaded on a truck or trailer that has wheels on it that it has to be secured by chains instead of load straps, which is false. This situation is exacerbated by primarily new posters asking about how to transport, load, and secure their tractor on a trailer. They will get many incorrect answers, and the most common one is how far someone hauled a ten thousand pound tractor on a car carrier trailer behind a 1/4 ton pick-up truck with no problem. If it can be done it has to be correct right? The correct answers are easily found at FMCSA under load securement. I and a very few others here will answer these questions with the response that YT is the absolute worst place to ask these questions because those answering think they know but their information is heresay and is not from FMCSA.
