I have a 4 cylinder Komatsu diesel engine, made by Yanmar. The engine model is s4d84e-5kfd. The cylinders don't have liners. 2 cylinders were scratched by the pistons. It needs to be machined for +.50 mm pistons and rings, but rings and pistons are only available in standard or +.25 mm. Most engines S4D84 model engines used liners. So, I can get rebuild kits with liners and use standard size pistons and rings. Is it safe to have the cylinders machine for liners?
