Once they figured out the multi-layer- steel head gaskets, the 2.0 and 2.4 Bitsumichi would easily run 200,000 with little trouble. Change the oil every 3 or 4 thousand, service the transmission every 20,000, and they would last longer.
Pennsylvania fish & boat commission would run 4 cylinder cloud cars past 250,000, with a rebuilt transmission here and there.
Versus the v6, the 2.4 was a lot easier on gas with very little difference in performance, and lasted longer. And if you got the factory program cars, they were programmed differently, and 35-40mpg was not out of the question.
