YES! We went to White Pine for the first time this year and noticed they had a fantastic collection of very old, complete, what appeared to be usable printing equipment set up, but not operating. They also had a nice water wheel at the millhouse with the wheel spinning and mill doors open, but no one to man the mills. At Forest City we struggle to get manpower. The food booths have been outsourced and this year they had no one selling souvenirs so none were ordered. There are a handful of dedicated members that are able to build new and move in existing historical buildings that get random displays set in them as static display. At Junkshow we have a small core group that does the necessary upkeep even though we promote a monthly work weekend with meals and meeting. For our show there are several chairs and members that pull an all day shift. My parking shuttle crew was mostly manned by nonmembers because of numerous excuses. My B team young guys ,17-20, ran hard and the local implement parts runner , all non members, were our savior. A local K of C has done our parking in the past, but only showed up with 8 guys so we found members to aid them. Our main kitchen was out sourced about 6 years ago because there are no old farm ladies left out there to put out a hardy meal. I manage to get a gang of early riser construction workers and ex farm kid to do our breakfast and we have fun doing it. Our print shop, rope machine, flour mill, steam engines and boiler are manned by a skeleton crew that run all day.
