Gary, When I was starting out, I would buy used starters, alternators, brake drums from auto salvage. I would also go to town to a place where the guy rebuilt alternators and starters. He would sell me the parts I needed to rebuilt my own.
Then Auto Zone came to town and that ended my trips to auto salvage and rebuilding my starters and alternators.
No place I'm aware of in town that rebuilts any things.
I Remember many machine shops needed to rebuild engines,
Many places rebuilt electric motors.
Who knows, some people may have to learn how to rebuild things again.
