The last thing I would do is flirt with the add mark. Expand your search to include online sources or put the Shell oil in. In my humble opinion engine failure has less to do with brand of oil used versus maintaining the oil level, pushing the change interval past its limit, using the incorrect weight or grade, or general neglect of the engine.
