I would word it as yes, some of the additives rose to the top. As for Texasmarks comment you call the oil ..old crankcase.. does that imply it was used oil? If it was used oil I would agree. I have seen used oil in a lawn mower clarify as it sat in the off season. When checked the first time in spring before use it looks real clean, after the first start and warm up the oil is back to a darker high usually seen after use.
