In this neck of the woods we use a base layer of # 2 limestone rock to support the weight of cars & pickup trucks. Then the top layer of # 53 or # 73's. These 2 are sometimes called driveway stone. This smaller stuff fills in gaps of the # 2's. Have also used # 9's as a top layer for a smooth top layer easy on tires. This stuff is all crushed limestone from a local stone quarry.
