Yep they did , Even up to the 1977 Cummins that i bought new , and ya know what that is what i run in it till i sold the truck . I ran the 30 Delo 400 in it and even though it was turned up way past factory spec.'s any problems i had with that engine was due to me pushing one Hp per cubic inch out of it far more then the 350 Hp that the factory set . I was making more pony power then a KTA 600 at the time and a KTA had 1150 Cubes over my 855 . In my life time of seeking pony pony power i have always gone beyond where no man has gone before . I have played the game of Oils probably long before you were out of three corner pants , dealt with every snake oil salesman that has come down the pike and pushed engines way past design , yup i have made a few spare parts . You bring me and engine that has failed and i can tell you where it all started . Infact if you were to go out to the local drag strip and walk the est side lane with a metal detector you will more then likely find pieces and parts from a 390 F E Ford still in the dirt . Nope i did not build that engine i Bought it . Per built and told she was good to 7000 . Well that was a lie as she let go at 6000 . That was the start of my engine building . I set out to build a F E block 390 that would flat out and run and when done she would run a 390 tri power with the best you could buy in 64 . it ran well enough to knock the socks off a 64 427 head up by four car length and kept on running like that . When i had that car down in Ga. while stationed down there it supplemented my PFC pay of 97 buck a month street racing and like one old sother boy asked me one night while steeling up he asked me if all them thar cars in the Buckeye ran this fast and i said oh no this is one of the SLOWER CARS. I even went heads to heads with a 66 dodge Charge with a 426 street hemi and got him three for three . As that 390 would put that 61 Ford Sunliner thru the quarter at 118.23 in a 11.56 . That was 4485 lbs of car with me in it . Yes i have built engines for others i also worked on the MoPars and Fords at two different dealerships one running a drag race program . So you get a feel for the lube of and engine . Building winning tractor engines that was a hoot as you had to rethink all you knew of going fast to going fast only to slow down as you went . Whole new ball game on tuning . I built five for first my accountant that myself and three others ran the same tractor in the 4500on up thru 7500 . I ran it in the 6500 class my accountant ran it in the 7500 class and for two years it was never beaten in any of the classes . each one of us won the points nd each one of us walked away with the top prize at each pull . Till we sold it to our competition as the old sayen goes if ya can't beat it BUY it . And we moved on to the next project and first outing at a national event we came in at 3rd and forth . As i did not have all the bugs worked out on this one as it was diesel . After that pull we knew what we had to do . i pulled first and my Accountant pulled second and i could see and hear more watching him make the pull . . So back to the oil The Case I H oil is one of the better oils out there and this is fact , yep it costs more BUT if ya get more hours out of and engine then the cost of the oil really does not cost that much . My S/MTA puts out 60 ponys , My one close friend's S/MTA puts out 92-94 ponys . We just rebuilt that one with some of the last pieces and parts out there back oh like 20 years ago now . His has the 8500 ft. pistons the stock 450 gas head the 450 cam and intake and it needs the high test gas . this along with the few teaks to the dist. and carb work on the feed grinder she will almost out do a 806 grinding corn thru the small screen . On a two row corn chopper and old i H one i saw her split the gear box wide open one night when Vernon went to show me he could run second gear . The engine came under load and opened the gov and the gear box split wide open . Nope nothing wrong with the gear box all bearings were good , gears all good , just could not take the force and the casting failed . That was the first time that tractor was rebuilt since 1956 when it burnt under a mounted picker and was totally rebuilt that is when it was first upgraded by his grand father . That tractor was Vernons main tractor for his dairy operation . Yep in my area we have / had a bunch of small dairy operations , My main stay and income . we have five S/MTA's not counting mine that were everyday tractors . none of the new high priced fancy one . lots of 560 and 460's many old M's a few 806's and 856's a couple 1256's for the guys milking or were milking 60 plus head . and they all ran I H oil either the low ash or the # 1 Diesel . I had vary few engine issues to deal with . Mostly T/a's and hyd. and a few injection and electrical issues . My close friend and his 1066 that was one of my auction finds that he bought off me some some gee's thirty years ago now i have rebuilt the rear end fixed a couple hyd. issues a starter and alt. some light problems and now needs a new clutch and could use a new T/A . But the engine is still strong with vary little blow by and has the wick turned up BIG TIME and a much larger hair drier on it then factory and putting out well over 200 Hp. , real close to one half Hp. to Cu . In. Yep that one runs on I H # 1 Diesel 30 weight . it will haul 5x16's way faster then you can set in the set . It will pull five parabolic DMI deep till rippers with the 7.5 inch points at 14 inches deep in or clay in first high when the DMI block man told us there was no way a 1066 could do this . He was wrong . This is why i use the Case I H Oil and so does everyone around here with and I H tractor .
