My QUESTION If i have two 12 volt 500 CA batteries connected in this manner does it give me a total of 1000 CA at the starter??
ANSWER YES Cold Cranking Amps adds if in parallel as EACH can in theory or rating supply 500 amps, and 500 + 500 = 1000 amps
NOTE 1 CONNECTION EXAMPLE if each battery has its own POS and NEG cables that lead to starter and ground, IE NOT ladder connected:
For each battery to better achieve equal charging and load supplying amps, its best if the cables (say from each battery to Ground and each battery to the Starter, if that's the chosen connection) are the SAME length.
NOTE 2 Ladder style parallel connection.
For each battery to better achieve equal charging and load supplying amps, for parallel ladder connection of two batteries A & B, its good practice if for example the POS of one battery A connects to the starter,,,,,,, and the NEG of the other battery B connects to ground.

Hope this helps
PS Sure it still works even if the Smartgauge methods aren't adhered to exactly !!!!!!!!!!!! WELL DUH
