My 2520 was built as a gas tractor. I bought it used, and put a diesel in it. I added a battery. Both ground cables run to the transmission cover. I ran the positive from one battery to the other. It never worked well. In warm weather, when being used frequently, it was OK. Otherwise, I was always boosting it. Last spring, when I rewired it, I ran new positive cables from each battery to the starter, mimicking some of my newer, bigger tractors. What a difference!
At a seminar at the local diesel/electric shop they said the down side to a higher CCA battery was more, thinner plates, which are more prone to vibration damage. Your 460 batteries ought to be fine. I think that's what I have.
