Sounds like the input shaft bearing, possibly the counter shaft bearings or the input gear that turns the counter shaft.
Sitting in neutral, engine running, clutch engaged, that's all that is turning in the transmission.
Some input shafts can be removed from the front without a complete tear down, not sure about that one.
Have you checked the oil in the transmission? Probably too late if it's grinding, but if it's really low, might top it up with something, even if it's used oil, it will probably be drained back out anyway.
