You already have better security than most places with the long driveway, many family members around at various times, and dogs. Have you considered going with a simple security system and spending the remainder of the money on some better locks, motion lights, maybe an alarm in the shop and machine shed, and take some extra care to keep expensive things inside, out of view when not being used? I would not put an alarm on the house with that many people coming and going, it will constantly be setting off and you will soon have a family revolt on your hands, LOL. Simply posting a security system sign half way down the drive with a real or dummy camera will deter the majority of opportunistic petty thieves.
You won't stop a professional, they have already targeted what they are after and will simply cut through a building sidewall rather then mess with a locked door or alarm. Someone like that already knows you and your operation well, and is likely someone you know well too.
