We left Thursday morning to go to Oklahoma City to pick up a mulcher for my sons skid loader. We went to Des Moines Iowa then south on. I have never been south of Des Moines. The Flint Hills were something to see. Just acres and acres of rolling grassland. There are overpasses on the interstate for the cows to cross over. Oklahoma did not impress me much but all I saw was from interstate 35. They have some very red dirt. We then went back to Buhler KS to Mike's Farm equipment and got some parts for my 95 and 105 combines. Traveled all state roads back up through KS and up to Lincoln NE. Took 80 to Iowa the went up to Denison Iowa and picked up 30 and brought it back to Cedar Rapids and then 151 to WI. KS and NE have been very dry and needed the rain that came a few days ago. I liked seeing the farm buildings with wind breaks that were often full of older combines and implements. Saw a few fields of cotton from last year along with milo stubble and lots of wheat and lots of black cattle. Drove 1900 miles. I am tired of setting but sure glad we went. Many of the historic sites were not open yet for the year. I would like to see it again in the summer. Temps were in the 50's and very pleasant. Tom
