Our church rented a Pinewood Derby track a couple months ago for the kids.
Of course, we had to try it out at Men's Breakfast, just to be sure it was ready...
I didn't have time to build a car, but there were several entries. They ranged from precisely weighed and aligned works of art, to half completed, stuck together when it got there monstrosities!
Guess what won? Yep, the worst of the worst! The fastest though was a wood car kit from Harbor Freight. It really didn't count though as it was nothing like the official Pinewood Derby cars.
We played around with the weights, nothing really seemed to matter, light, heavy, really heavy... No consistent advantage or disadvantage.
It wasn't a real scientific test though, the track was not the best, lots of derails. Some lanes fared better than others!
