"when i turn on the ignition key the start starts spinning"
I'm pretty sure you mean to say "when I connect the battery the starter spins", as it doesn't have a starter solenoid (unless someone has added one), and the starter is activated by the foot-operated switch held to it by two little screws.
Most likely, those contacts have stuck.
The Delco part number for the switch is 820052.
I've had the best luck searching the 'net for NOS American-made units vs. the (crappy) reproduction imported parts many sellers have toady.
The contacts in the switch work with a contact stud in the starter, if that's pitted away so a new switch won't make good contact it needs to be replaced, which requires HD soldering tools and the ability to solder the new one in place.
