We would need a lot more information before we could give you a definite answer. Do you want to change the motor to 120 VAC or do you want to use the 12 VDC motor? If you choose the existing 12 VDC motor, we would need to know the current draw of that motor to recommend a large enough power supply. If your choice is to convert to a 120 VAC motor, you will have to match the power & the RPM of the existing motor? Then there is the existing space considerations. And yet another consideration, what if you are in the attic when the power goes out? The 12 VDC would still work. IMHO by far the simplest solution is to use the existing battery/charging system.
