There's most likely an opposite one on the inside shoe. It's not near as important as the outside one. The inside one doesn't really cut anything unless its fed into uncut grass. Most operators (including myself) drive jogged out atleast a sickle section to leave room for guidance error, and reduce problems.
On my mower, these are riveted on with special rivets, hard to get at, and are a b!t(h to replace. I take my shoes off, and take them to town, and have my welder guy put the new ledger plates in. I'm not sure how he does it, but does a much better job than me doing it myself. Must have an easier way too. He doesn't charge much to do it. And he adds a little tack weld to ensure they don't come off, and are held on by more than just the rivets.
If ordering these, especially just the outer, make sure you specify the outer, not the inner. On my mower, they are different if you don't buy as a pair.
