It depends what tractor the mag originally came off. I tried two Fairbanks mags off Allis tractors on my SC and it started hard and just didn t purr no matter where I had the timing or plug wire arrangement. When the first Fairbanks left me stranded I borrowed a Case mag to put on the SC to get a spraying job done and the Case mag had the SC purring like a kitten. I found another FB mag off an Allis, put it on the SC and it was back to the old hard starting and not quite running right routine. A Delco distributor conversion solved all of that nonsense. The Wico you have might give different results and work OK. If you have the Wico already give it a try. If you are looking at buying the Wico try to get your hands on a Delco distributor instead. The downside to a distributor is you need a battery.
