CD .... I've read several of Neville Shute's books, I must check the library for one next time I'm in. One that he wrote that YT'ers would like to read is Trustee From The Toolroom. Shute was an engineer and many of his books had a mechanical theme. Here's an excerpt from your link ....

I didn't realize that his full name was Neville Shute Norway and dropped the last name for his books.
