Took a look at a tractor for a friend/hay customer. It's a Ford Nh 6640 with cab, shuttle shift transmission, if I remember a 3 speed with 3 ranges. They were using it yesterday brush hogging pastures, 10 foot mower, everything fine. Today the clutch acted up from start up, wouldn't release she said. I tested after checking where everything is (I'm not familiar with FordNH) so I didn't damage building it's in if things went south. This is what I had happening : clutch initially releases, after 15-20 seconds re-engages and tractor starts to move, put shuttle shift in neutral all is stopped ; after holding clutch pedal down for any length of time it doesn't want to come up on its own, need to start it up with my toe then comes up.I did see that it is a cable clutch, not a rod type linkage (like an IH has).
Is this a fluid power clutch? If so, where does fluid come from? Separate dedicated reservoir? Could it be something with clutch itself or more likely a cable issue?
Will do some searching on the net, but any insights would be appreciated. Thanks, Paul

George bought his Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00. There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken by Harold alone to bring it up to show standard.
