I m glad to have found this place as there is a wealth of information here. My wife and I bought a house almost a year ago in a subdivision here in central Alabama. Our house sits on a pretty regular sized .3-.4 acre lot. Behind it there is an additional fenced in acre that is wooded. It s fairly flat and my plan is to take some trees down and make myself a nice garden area. I also want to keep it cleaned up and prevent it from growing really thick. Another thing I d like to do even though it s a pretty small space is carve a little dirt bike trail for the kids. I m not really sure if I need a tractor or just really want one. I feel like a bush hog would be pretty handy for keeping it neat, and I think I would find ways to use a tractor.
I like tinkering with things and I m pretty mechanically inclined and I m kind of drawn to the older Fords. I found a 1953 Jubilee for sale locally that the guy says runs but tries to die when he is cutting with the bush hog and it gets under a load. He s only asking $1k for the tractor and bush hog and it looks pretty decent.
I guess I m not really wondering too much about that particular machine, but should I look for something smaller or would a tractor like that be ok for the limited space I have?

It was on one such Saturday in the early 1940's when Sam was 16 years old that he ended up in Dennison, Kansas to watch a demonstration of a new tractor being put on by a local dealer. It was an Allis-Chalmers tractor dealership,
