Here in west central MN we direct marketed our Devon cattle. Around a dozen cows a year, males where always not cut and sold as purebred Devon breeding stock. Most of the guys around here with larger herds would always try to improve the personality of their black herds with good mellow stock. We sold around a dozen animals a year, whole animals only, no cherry picking of the ground beef or T's. $5 a #, to repeat customers by word of mouth. Way more customers than we felt like dealing with at our age (then). 4 years ago we sold our herd of 65 animals, heifers, bull calves, cows and my 2 herd bulls to a neighbor wanting to expand his grass fed business. We're 80+ now and as much as we miss them (calves mostly) it was getting just to much. Larry
