My dad and my FIL operated on the same wavelength. For years my dad had a propane tractor (old M) that only saw a little use during haying season. But with that one propane tractor he deducted 90% of his propane purchases for farm expense - while heating his home. Later on he didn't need any extra deductions and sold the tractor. My FIL did the exact same thing only he had a propane powered grain truck. Other than that using propane today is more burden than the possible price break is worth.
