To YOUR question given such little information: Can a magneto that is for a 6 volt tractor get burn up from being jumped with a 12 volt jumper?
NOOOOOOOO provided its actually a Magneto ?????? As they have no connection to battery power since they generate their own energy.
HOWEVER if it were a 6 Volt battery powered coil distributor ignition and 12 volts was applied GIVEN LONG ENOUGH TIME the coil may well overheat and possibly be toast
HOWEVER if it were a Magneto and you applied battery voltage to its Kill Switch circuitry and it had a current path THE COIL MAY BE FRIED
To better answer your wide open question we need to know what ignition system you have BUT THE ABOVE THEORY IS STILL BASICALLY TRUE
Let the Ford guys know what you have provided you have a Ford ??????
