What's the general direction of drainage in the area? If my geography is correct, I seem to remember that the main rivers flow eastward or maybe some are southward. Do your area farms use drain tile? Tiling is big business here in south central Minnesota and from what farmer friends say it is very beneficial to yield increases from the more even distribution of the moisture. And after a heavy rain the low spots that fill with water will be gone in a couple days, so the corn or soybeans don't drown out.
