kcm: i feel ya. i recently lost my miracle-working dentist to retirement and his former partner turned out to be... someone i would not entrust my health to on a double-dog dare.
i am also a long-term pain management case. this situation with opiates has been handled horribly, imo. countless people who NEED these drugs (far more than i do, i know my case is comparatively minor for now) were cut off from them because, well, some other people can't handle the responsibility of taking them as prescribed and chose to up their dosage and died. may they RIP, but don't put everyone into purgatory because some others screwed up. if Person X over there can't drive, don't take MY license away, for goodness' sake.

(Crazy - i happened to tune by the very end of his show one day, having no idea what it was. he said "keep your stick on the ice" and i was instantly hooked. what a fortunate moment that was for me  )
