Grease salesmen always say that their absurdly expensive grease saves money because you only need to grease half as often. They fail to take into consideration that greases other function is to expel dirt. In a case of a small 3-point disk with iron bushings operating in a constant shower of dirt, you can scarcely cut down the grease intervals; if once a day was required to expel dirt, now every other day with the expensive grease ,half the time the bearings are running in lapping compound. The best grease in the world cant stop that. They used to be so proud to demonstrate that hammer grease. but it doesnt do a dang bit of good if it is full of dirt.
