I have been working on and using an 1105 which I think is close to the same tractor. Mine smokes quite a bit from white to gray color. Thought it was fuel related but going through the fuel system didn't change anything. Goes away when hot. Kept searching the internet fir solutions, the 354 perkins used low quality oil rings which can wear out early and creates smoke. For the knock I don't know how the hydraulic pump attaches to the front of the engine, 1105 has 4 bolts and rubber coated bushings to connect everything. Mine was so worn that the holes where the bushings go were completely egg shaped and bushings destroyed. Was able to weld the holes and used a die grinder to make round again with new bushings.
