I have a '98 Dodge Cummins 3500 auto 4x4 electric hoist dump truck. I just purchased a new Muncie PTO on eBay.
My milage is not that good at around 14 mpg but I am afraid this PTO, when installed, is going to lower it further. The input gear on the PTO is constant mesh even when the PTO is out of gear. A shifting yoke moves a collar to couple it to the gear next to it. This completes the delivery of power to the transfer case mounted PTO.
I am concerned that this parasitic load will lower my MPGs. What do you think and how bad will it be?
