What I do is get the gaskets,then put a thin layer of RTV on them.If you have it real clean when you bolt it together it should stop the leak.RTV will work,but it lasts a lot longer leak free if you use gaskets coated with RTV.You just dont want to use a bunch of it as it will make the gasket slide as you tighten it up.If you have plenty of time,put it together,run the bolts up a little past finger tight,just snug,let it set untill tomorrow,tighten it up.The RTV sets up and the gasket stays in place.I even put RTV around the outside of seals before I drive them in.Beats having to tear it back down to replace a seal that is leaking around the outside.On a seal,if its inside a housing,take a rag and wipe off the excess RTV so it doesnt fall off later and plug an oil gallery.You also allways want to watch putting RTV on gaskets that you dont plug an oil gallery.If I dont know,I put the RTV on the gasket,put it together with a couple of bolts,take it back apart and see if any squeezed out into the gallery.Once you do this it will be allright to bolt it together.The worst thing about RTV is plugging a gallery some where,If you use it right its great.
