Same question: Different topic. Most of the higher end tractors nowadays have hydrostatic power steering and the manufacturers list it as a "goody" when they advertise. I understand the difference but don't see any advantage. As a matter of fact the hydrostatic steering seems to me to have some disadvantages. If you are traveling down the road in high gear and lose hydraulic pressure you lose ALL steering with the hydro. I had an older tractor (red) that the hydraulic pump was weak on. When the 3ph was raised and under load it starved the hydro steering to the point you could hardly steer it. If it had had a seperate power steering pump this would not have happened. I know some (most??) of the newer tractors have two pumps, one for they 3ph and one for the steering but I still don't see any advantage. Any ideas??
