There was a fitting that screwed into the item to be greased just like the current zerks. The one I am thinking of did not have the latch on like the zerk. You just pushed it on and pushed the gun. Pressure of the gun against the face of the fitting sealed it. I have a couple old guns that fit the fittings but no fittings any more. ray
