My Dads TO 20 is doing the same thing! I did find the problem though. Sometimes it would just plain not start and had no spark. The problem was in the ignition switch. Dad put on a pull out type switch when the original went bad and now the newer switch is acting up. If I fiddle with the switch sometimes it will fire right up , but later when running it it may die and if I fiddle with the switch again it start again (this usually happens while the engine is still turning over) I would give that switch a good look.
