Now that you mention it, I'm sure that you are right.. my memories are getting vague going back that far.. and I posted while drinking my FIRST cup of coffee. It's later in the day, more coffee and I remember now that they changed engines sometime in the early 80's, still way underpowered, but better reliability. I don't know why it took Chevy so long to wake up to the fact that a 'real' diesel made sense in a heavy-duty pickup. I think lots of GM shareholders wonder why too. Haven't heard any reports on how the new Isuzu/Duramax engine is doing.
