Hi Bill, Look on the axle as it should have a tag some where that has the axle rating, ie; 2000lb or? Then your going to have too add about 1500lbs of frame steel and decking to the exisiting frame to make it work. So now your trailer is getting close to 2500lbs or so. Add a tractor that weighs 4000lbs dry, more like 4500lbs wet, your at 7000lbs GAWR. So even with 3500lb axles your pushing maxmium axle weight and will brake parts and have excessive tire wear. On the other hand: New 5200lb brake axle complete with hubs and elec. 12x2 brakes are $190 eh. Exisitng Frame steel another $500 at new prices. try bigtextrailer.com for prices. T_Bone
