Well young feller, sometimes we just like to have a little fun ... and what with you signing on as "dumb yuppie" ... well you could almost guess what type of a response you'd get. Seriously, if you tell the boys a little more (where you live, what others are growing, what kind of land, soil, etc. and what you've got to work with), then you'd get some help. Maybe try the Country Life forum down further here, lots of those types of questions there and lots of expertise too. Good luck, but it was worth a chuckle or two don't you think?
