Is the reluctor to pick up coil gap set at about .010 If dist shaft bushing is worn a bit you might have to increase the gap a bit because if reluctor rubs on pickup coil at all, it won't work. The tiny impulse current produced by the pickup coil is then magnified by the module to drive the coil, or triggers the module to ground the coil -depending on which style of system you have. In any case the module should be grounded.
