I think one reason it that there isn't much money in this hobby- everybody just wants to have fun fixing, using and talking about their tractors, not in trying to see how much money they can make. The shysters leave any scene pretty quickly when they find there isn't much money to be made (or conned).

While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery.
