Not sure what to reccommend, but I just put new shocks on my truck yesterday, they had 101,000 miles on the originals. Man, what a difference in handling and stopping. My truck doesn't "roll" around turns or "roll" when stopping. Not sure how long shocks are supposed to last, but you can get some heavy duty ones made for towing anywhere from $30-$75 a piece for the heavy duty ones, middle of the road ones cost me about $22 a piece. This was on a Ford but I imagine they all run about the same.
