It seems to be a common event to blame "something". How many times has someone found an old tractor or vehicle which has been parked for 20+ years, got it going with accumulated gunk inside, then changed the oil to a multi-weight detergent & the engine blew? The equiment was parked in the 1st place because it was already dead or dying.
Transmissions,rear ends & engine fail evey day but suddenly the blame is on the lube if it's not ordinary mineral oil.
GM is using synthetic in some engines because they failed before warrenty if mineral oil is used. Gas turbines & some mechanical drives had synthetics designed for just them so they can operate without wear or coking the oil.
If Amsoil or Mobil 1 lube was used the failure problem is due to something else.
