I ran into a similar situation with my next door neighbor. She asked me to mow her pastures. I found out the hard way that her husband takes anything that's in his way and throws it out into the pasture. The last time I mowed for her I hit cinder blocks and part of a utility pole laying in 4' high weeds! You can imagine what that did to the brush hog deck. I barely got enough from her to cover the gas. My vote is to go fishing in the future.
